Tastefully Placed Plates

I have a new found love...

A wall of plates can be art in itself if beautifully hung.  Take for example Kelly Wearstler's plate wall at The Viceroy in Santa Monica.  One word:
Stunning!

Ever since my inspiration photo for painting my kitchen, I have become obsessed with plates!  I even added a few to my Amazon Wishlist!  I think that adding some plates to my yellow wall will add some much needed character. I like the layering effect from this photo:

However, my favorite style is having cluster of plates curving along the wall.

Now it's up to me to start my very own collection of vintage and unusual plates.  I already have one from Paris as you can see in the walkway from the picture below.

Although, I like the look of the inspiration photo, my kitchen set-up will not allow for me to use the same wall.  The hanging pot rack must stay in place.  There is absolutely no other logical placement or space available for my pots and pans.  I'm thinking the wall space above the window or the wall space above the entry way to the kitchen will be a nice space for the curved plate display.  I'll most likely use saucers and smaller size plates, since there is not much wall space to fill.

  3. Jessica, I don't even know you, other than everything Donna tells me and I see on her facebook posts, but let me just say that you have one of the cutest blogs ever! I kept seeing all these pretty pictures that your mom was posting of wonderfully decorated rooms, and I had to check it out. It's so much fun, so I am a follower now. And if I come across any lovely plates, I will find a way to get them to you! :-)

  4. Mrs. Limestone,
Forgive me for not getting back to you sooner. You're two steps ahead of me... I only have ONE plate! However, I'm expecting a shipment in the mail soon! Hopefully, I'll be able to dress up my walls and update a post. I'd love to see your plate wall when you finish!

    Autumn,
That is so incredibly sweet of you! It has taken me a long time to get to a point where I am OK with the visual aspects of this site, and I still feel like it has a looong way to go. However, I'm learning! Most importantly, like you I enjoy doing it and love decor (obviously).

    xo,
    jessica
