Be Thankful! Plus Gilt Giveaway Announcement!!

I have so much to be thankful for this year!  In the past two weeks, I have made more connections with fellow bloggers and designers than I have over the past two years!  I am very grateful for every reader that finds The Tiny Abode worthy of reading!  Blogging has definitely been a growing process for me, and by no means came easy.   It took a really long time to get a grasp on my aesthetic... and it's still changing, but I feel like I am closer than I have ever been before.  Below, is a picture of a Thanksgiving table that was put together from Naomi at Design Manifest.  Naomi was one of the very first bloggers I started following from Philadelphia, and might I add... she's got mad skillz!

Oh Joy! - Blog Workshop Philadelphia

This past Monday night was spent at Moore College of Art in Philadelphia for an Oh Joy! blogging workshop hosted by AIGA Philadelphia.

I met some lovely ladies with similar interests...

Joy was a total rockstar! I will be sharing more about what went on at the workshop in a future post.  Also be on the watch for a blogger link-up for all of those who attended the workshop.  I cannot wait until I get a moment to check out every last blog!

Design Crisis: Business Cards

HELP!!!!  Did that get your attention?  I hope so, because I'm having a design meltdown (and it has nothing to do with my apartment)!  Nine days from today I will be attending the Oh Joy Rx Blogging & Social Media Workshop with the infamous social medialite, Joy Cho.  For those of you who do not know Joy, check out her blog, Oh Joy to see what she's all about!  

Ok, so why the meltdown?  A few days ago I received a message in my inbox from Joy requesting that all attendees bring about 40 business cards.  Say wha??  Ok, makes total sense.  However being a newbie to the blogosphere, I'm feeling in over my head.

So I went over to Tiny Prints (seems suiting for The Tiny Abode), and here's what I came up with.

So, why the freak out?  They're cute!  Yes, Tiny Prints is awesome, but ten of these cost $15!!  Yikes!  I need an alternative, and I need one fast!!  Can you help?  I've tried Vista, Overnight Prints, etc., etc., etc., All no good.  They're just a little too generic for me.  I need something that will hold it's own, and I need them by August 1st!  Suggestions?  Please??

As we have been sprucing things up here in our tiny abode, we decided to forego a name change.  What's in a name, anyway?  It's a first impression.  It creates meaning.  It's poetry.

We want a name that reflects our space, and what we represent.

Refreshing!

Ahhh... that's better.  I feel like I can breathe again.  After much experimentation, I think we have found something we can stick with.  What do you think?  Like the new look or does it make you run for your shades?

We still need to play around with the header, but for now I think we are doing ok.  We tried creating a header of our own, but just couldn't get the pixels right.  Here's what we had going on...

It looked GREAT in our photo editor!!  Even after adjusting the pixels from 4000...yikes... to 850, the image was still clear in our editor.  Once we transferred it over to blogger... Fail!

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.  But for now, I hope you are enjoying the new look!  We are!

Unfortunately our super cute background has been discontinued, and will disappear soon.   We were past due for a little house keeping ourselves!  So if you notice our site looking like a hodge-podge, please pardon us.  We'll be back and beautiful soon!

Who's in the Mood for Triangle Honeymoon!?

I have every intention on getting back into the full swing of things in "blog world" once I reach a full recovery from holiday extravaganzas... Bama style!  In the meantime, check out Triangle Honeymoon where I was recently featured by Amy and Chad!

I'm Ballin!

I'm almost embarrassed to post this (revealing my poor decorating skills in the "Before" pic).  Yikes!  In my defense I was working with what I had available at the time.  Jason and I came to Philly with a futon and a full size bed.  I'm not exaggerating, that's it!  Speaking of  Jason, he is the one who really helped motivate me this past weekend by cleaning out the hallway closet.  Next thing I know I'm running around like Mary Poppins!  Just a snap of a finger.  Voila!  A magical transformation.

If I do say so myself, the room has made mass improvement.  I would like a new duvet like this one from Bloomingdale's, since the one I posted about previously from Anthropology is discontinued. 

But now that our room is semi put together, I'm conflicted.  Maybe I should just go with a chic white tufted duvet.  Opinons??

In other news, October treated us well.  Here Jason and I are at the Studio Incamminati Gala which is held annually at the Union League in Philadelphia.  This year's theme was "To Russia With Love".  

This season I also had the pleasure of finally strolling around Antique Row in Center City.  I didn't purchase anything, but it was well worth the stroll.

I did however score me some awesome boots on South Street!!  Sorry, no pic.  They come up to my knee, and believe it or not, there's no space between my skinny leg and the boot.  Skinny girls understand.  Buying boots has not been an easy task for me, so this is major people!

Finally, Philly has been quite cold these last few days.  I was hoping for a long fall, but it seems like Winter has made itself feel right at home.

Ahh...October, I will miss you!
