Vintage Now in Martha Stewart Living

Yesterday, I picked up this seasons October issue of Martha Stewart Living. That's right, I'm not a subscriber.  You can scream at me later.  However, I just HAD to have this issue!!  One, fall is Ahhh-mazing!!  I can't wait to read Martha's pumpkin party tips!  Two, Philadelphia's own Kerri Farragut and Amy Tyrrell, co-owners of Vintage Now, are fashionably sporting along the The Great Pumpkin Party partaking in the pumpkin carving festivities.

None of my blabbering has the slightest to do with what I am about to share with you other than the Amy and Kerri's upcoming hosting event at Vintage Now's showroom in Norristown this Friday!

If you're like me, a self-proclaimed BIY-er (that is a buy it yourself-er) rather than a DIY-er (who's got the time for that!?), then you are going to LOVE this shop!!  Kerri and Amy have already raved the estate sales and auctions for you carefully selecting vintage pieces for you to lust over.

Clover Market Goodies!!

With all this talk about Clover Market, I thought it would only be fair to introduce you to a few vendors who's talent and originality caught my attention, and I'm sure they'll catch yours!

Press No. 9

Press No. 9 was the first booth I marched into while at last weekends Clover Market.  Christina Smith is the "creative soul" behind this artistry.  Are you as much in love with these vintage-like tea towels as I am!?

Meadowsweet Vintage

Stacy Morris, who shared a booth with Christina, had an extensive collection of vintage goodies that I would have been more than willing to scoop up and haul away, including the chair we posted about on Wednesday.

Then of course there was Baby Jives and Modern Bird Jewelry (you've heard of them before), two separate vendors who shared an adorable booth!  If there is an award for best booth design it should go to them... hands down!

Speaking of babies, Chirp and Bloom had an adorable collection of eco-friendly baby designs from accessories to onesies.

Tree and Kimball

Then of course there was incredible jewelry.  Flea Markets aren't just for second-hand goods.Lisa Bruemmer's handmade jewelry is some of the prettiest I've seen.

And what did I come home with?  This beautiful hand painted French Provincial desk from Kim at Larkspur Interiors!!  I really need to get a better picture, but check out those claw feet!

Kim also has a blog.  Check her out at My Domestic Bliss!  Here are some more beauties from her booth... for all you shabby chic lovers.

Ok, I'm done, and that's not even the half of it!  If you want to see more you should check out Clover Market's blog.  The next flea market will be Sunday, October16th!! You may even run into a local blogger like I did!  Holly, from West Pear Avenue, along with her trooper of a husband and sweet baby girl were the first people I spotted as I stepped foot into the gates.  Bloggers know where to shop!!!  It was so much fun talk decor and blogging with someone who "get's it".  Connecting is what blogging is all about!

Object of my Affection... Guest Post: Arcadian Home Decor

You all know by now that I am a bit (to say the least) of a chair fanatic!  I am constantly on the hunt for the perfect chair.  Whether it's a dining chair or a side chair... I got my eye on it!  I post about chairs.  I google chairs.  I pin chairs.  I pick-up chairs from the side of the road!!!   I even take pictures of my favorite chairs at flea markets!

That said, I am very excited to have Jenn from Arcadian Home Decor share with you the very object of my affection.

Hello! My name is Jenn and I write for Arcadian Home Decor, an e-commerce website that specializes in popular home decor trends from across the globe. My love for interior decorating started when I was 10 when my dad built me a dollhouse - now my husband and I are moving into our first real home, and I'm constantly scouring the net for great home decor blogs. A personal fave: The Tiny Abode, where their posts are always beautiful and inspiring. I'm so happy I get to write here today!

Barrel chairs go back quite a few decades and since that time they have become modern favourites. Curvy and streamlined, these pieces of furniture look great in both traditional as well as contemporary spaces. Paired with stylish table decorations, wall art, and other great home accessories, and barrel chairs become handsome centrepieces.

There are two great examples of modern barrel chairs in this casual den - a plain wood piece stands chicly solo, while a bubbled red chair adds a dash of welcomed colour.

White and blue calm

These two furniture pieces scream mod - although they aren't rounded, their uniform shape makes them decidedly barrel-like. The white and blues are also wonderful choices for a soothing bedroom.

This room boasts not only a barrel chair but a barrel couch as well - having one in a solid colour and one with a motif gives this monochromatic space more character.

A regal old-fashioned wood desk looks gorgeous with a barrel chair on wheels - the blue glass table decorations and black and white wall hangings personalize this home office.

Painted Chairs

Inspiration:

Must BUY this...

For those of you who are saying, "What the heck!?"...  it's a hand sander.  Lucky me spotted four vintage chairs on the curb and thought, "Project!"  I always fear painting really old antique furniture, but perfectly free vintage chairs do not scare me.  I have never attempted to paint chairs, and a girl has to start somewhere.  Wish me luck!

Fairmount Flea Market Finds

This weekend was spent at the famous Fairmount Phila Flea Market.  Art, furniture, vintage jewelry and true craftsmanship is always present at the Phila Flea Markets.

My favorite booth was A Vintage Home.  Maria Loizou (booth owner) had such a nice collection, and she was very knowledgeable about the pieces I adored.  Just look at that art!!

Maria stated that these Chinoiserie lamps came from a designer's estate sale in Miami.  They were my absolute favorite item at the flea market.  Very Mary McDonald-ish if you ask me!  The asking price was $60 each.  If I only had that money to spend!  My cash is still on reserve for chairs.

Here's a peep into the rest of her booth.  Do you love it as much as I do!?

Another great find from another dealer (sad to say I don't know his name) was this vintage butterfly collection!

I received some questionable remarks when I posted this on my personal facebook page, but I am telling you this is a hot item!!  Have you read this month's Lonny Mag!?  Butterflies pop up not once, but twice in the latest issue!  Check out page 45 and page 83.  Still think I'm crazy?  Not so fast, because I have some more bazaar and beautiful craftsmanship to share with you!!

That's right, you are looking at an orange earring, and I don't mean the color.  Zoe Joy Eibinder is the brains behind this immaculate craftsmanship.

This gal was a show stopper!!!  Look for her at Clover Market on Sunday, September 18th!!

Her jewels are truly unique and delicate pieces of art.  Check out her Etsy page here.

So what did I come home with, you ask?  Two cans of Krylon high gloss spray paint that I scored for $1.50 each from a former graffiti artist.  Surprising and weird, yes.  Great deal, absolutely!  Remember my cash is on reserve.  That said, I find that just browsing flea markets can be inspirational in itself.

Sunday Brunch at Sabrina's Cafe

Sabrina's has been on my hit list for about a year now.  Since they are known for their brunch, and since I am not a morning person, it has taken me quite a while to check out the scene.

However, it is sooo worth the crawl out of bed!

It's local. It's hip.  And it's good!!!

Check out the monthly menu specials!  It was meant to be!!

Jason and I decided that our next guest will get a special treat to Sabrina's...

... so come pay us a visit!

Do you have a favorite place to eat breakfast / brunch?  I'd love to hear of other local hot spots!
